About Me

I am based in Melrose, Massachusetts. Up until the COVID pandemic started in 2020, I was seeing clients in person at my office here. However, since the pandemic began, I have almost exclusively been seeing clients virtually, via Zoom or phone, only occasionally seeing people in person over the past 6 years. I accept the following insurances, but for clients who do not have or do not want to use their insurance benefits, out-of-pocket payments are also an option:

Blue Cross/Blue Shield

Tufts Health Plan

Harvard Pilgrim

United Behavioral Health

Education:

I received my bachelor's degree from Colby College in 1999, while also studying at Oxford University (Harris Manchester College) during my junior year. I earned my master's degree from Simmons College School of Social Work in 2008. I received a post-graduate certificate in Cognitive and Behavioral Interventions (CBT) from the Boston University School of Social Work in 2009, as well as completing a BU training on treating anxiety with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. I have taken three subsequent Harvard Medical School trainings on treating anxiety, couples therapy, and how to effectively use meditation and mindfulness techniques in psychotherapy. I completed three-day courses in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI), as well as taking trainings in effective treatment methods for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Borderline Personality Disorder.

Work History:

Prior to starting clinical work as a psychotherapist, I taught for 7 years. I have been practicing as a mental health counselor since 2007, starting as an intern at an outpatient clinic at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Between 2008 and 2021, I worked at North Suffolk Mental Heath Association. I started as psychotherapist there, which I did for 6 years, but I subsequently became a Clinical Supervisor, Program Manager, and Program Director of an outreach program. I also opened up my private practice in Melrose in July 2012, which I initially did part-time (20 hourse per week), but as of June of 2021, I transitioned to it being a full time practice.
